When we are at my parents house you can just about guarantee that my Dad will stand by the back door and say squirrel. The dogs will hear that one word and go running out the door after the poor squirrel that's been spotted. Lately, Murphy and her puppy cousin Bella will just go outside and sit and wait for something to happen. I think Bella likes to sit and look up at the trees, Murph likes sit and wait to pounce on a squirrel that might cross her path.
The other day I was outside doing some work in the yard. I took Lane and Murphy with me, I put Murph's leash around the tree so I wouldn't have to worry about her chasing down the next person who walked by. Not long after we had been outside I noticed Murphy jumping up to where I had wrapped her leash around the tree. I wasn't surprised because I had to use a different leash and I figured she wanted her retractable leash we usually use so she could roam further. Our neighbors came outside and Lane and I went to talk to them. They noticed Murphy jumping up the tree and that was when they spotted the squirrel that was up the tree. We watched and that squirrel was taunting Murphy! He would go down to the lower branches and wiggle his tail and she would jump up at him. Poor Murph.
If you were disappointed that Lane was nowhere to be found in the video, except to provide the commentary, here is a video for you. Lane has started sticking his tongue out all the time. His tongue is out while he's laying on the floor, crawling, being held, playing, just about any time. I caught him on my camera when he was playing on the floor. At one point it looks like he is feeling his tongue with his fingers. His Dad sticks his tongue out when he's concentrating, maybe it's hereditary?
