Adventures in Shopping Carts

Lane and I had a big afternoon out yesterday. We began with a romantic lunch at Sams with Clint. Ok, it wasn't really romantic, but Sam's was one of the stores on my list so we ate together and Lane and I stayed to shop.
For several weeks I have been contemplating letting Lane sit in the front basket of the shopping cart. He really is pretty young to do it, but he is so heavy in his carseat that I can barely lift it over the handle of the cart. And, he enjoys sitting up in his stroller so I decided to give it a try.
Hobby Lobby was the first store on our list which was great because they have smaller carts. Lane has a super cute cart liner that a special friend made for him so I put it in the cart and then loaded Lane in.Isn't he cute chewing on the strap? We drove all over the store, it seems that Lane most enjoyed leaning over the side of the cart.

I think he most enjoyed chewing on the liner and watching the floor as we walked. I kept trying to sit him up, but to no avail. He always went back to that same sideways position.
Once we were back out to the car I just had to get down below him to take one last picture of Lane's first cart ride. It looks like riding up front in the cart was a success! For more reasons than one - he was out by the time we had driven to our next stop!
